(NC)—Fresh on the successful heels of its Million Cartridge Challenge, the office supply retailer Staples, has upped the ante for 2009-2010. Last year, nationwide, Canadians championed this ambitious recycle program by delivering 1.3 million empty ink and toner cartridges to Staples stores. So this time, from Earth Day 2009 to Earth Day 2010, the lofty goal is now set, at two million. Think of the benefits. This year, by diverting one million cartridges from landfill, we collectively prevented the deposit of 96,000 kilograms of aluminium, 400 tonnes of plastic, and 10 million litres of oil into 8,000 cubic feet of Canadian land. And now, with the Two Million Cartridge Challenge, these numbers are destined to double. - News Canada
